I always say "the city" as if the entire world knows exactly which city I am talking about-New York City. The grand city, the city of all cities. And I bet that right now you are picturing in your head the city in all of its glory. Well, I was the city the other day. But being a girl from Long Island, I can never fully get used to noise and volumes of people and taxis and buses and city bikes speeding by.
No matter where I am in the City or what I am doing, I always try to find time to make a pit-stop in Central Park. Central Park is perhaps one of my favorite spots in the city and I love the attempt of wilderness within the urban. However, the thing I like the least of all is the horses that are to pull carriages. Horses do not belong in cities, plain and simple. But I digress.
In this day and age there are so many modes of transportation that people can use, and none involve any animals. In the city, people have the option of taking buses, taxis, subways, trains, motorbikes, cars, and bicycles. If I lived in the city, I would definitely invest in a good city bike, like ones made by Linus, and use it to go everywhere. Not-to-mention it is free!
In my hometown, cars are the most utilized methods of transportation. I always wonder how much better off the entire world would be if everyone just rode bicycles - not only would people get more exercise, but the overall pollution would greatly decrease. I always feel great after a long bike ride so I would not mind riding everywhere.
The city is not the greatest place for cars which is why the majority of people just choose to walk. But bicycles are always a great and efficient option to use and to avoid the crowded subway and buses.
