Check with your university. The university where you are currently completing you undergraduate degree may offer test preparation assistance free of charge to students. Ask the school if this service is available to alumni if you are not currently enrolled in school.

Get a book. There are several test preparation books available. Go to a bookstore and browse the study aids sections. Go through a number of books until you find one that has a format you are most comfortable with. Local or university libraries may also have a limited number of prep books available.

Using a computer can also be a great preparation tool. Among the options available for interactive learning are: subscription-based websites, various software programs and free sites.

Take a prep class. Several commercial centers can help you prepare for the gmat. These centers may be more expensive than books or software. Additionally, many offer both group and private sessions, depending on your learning preference and budget.
